Need some ideas for myself

I graduated with a degree in Journalism but got hooked on to computers, while in college. I now work as an IT Manager (Information Technology) and I LOVE it.

But as with most any career choice to be successful, you need to have a lot of interest in it and also be good at. Without both of those it's hard to be totally successful. If you're really good at something you can be successful, but not really happy unless you really enjoy it.

I was lucky that I found my niche. Hope you will do the same.

Find something you really like to do and figure out whether you can do it well. Does not matter whether it's being a doctor or a plumber. Society has titles. Learn to ignore them and do what you love.

Got my bachelor of science in nursing. I do enjoy what I do.

You should see if there is an adivising center in your school. Some schools have centers that help students choose a career path or field of study.
Or you could look up a list of degrees at various colleges and see what oppourtunities are avaliable to people with those degrees and go from there.
Some people are just undeclared majors for the first and second year which lets them get their basic courses out the way and gives them time to decide what they want to do. I think that's a wise decision to make.
Others just go to trade school or start out at a community college in order to save time and money.
You could also look at the website for the Department of Labor and see what choices are avaliable...there's a million different careers out there...
Well whatever you do...good luck!

I chose Industrial Engineering (Quality Engineering Option)

I like it because it's good in a variety of industries (Food, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Service) which gives me a level of job security and options of where I want to live. My nature is to change jobs every 5 years or so, and this has allowed me to do it at my discretion. I've worked in essentially every industry, every size company, and in many cases have had opportunities to travel. The profession (mostly as QA manager, but I'm a plant manager now) pays reasonably well, and you can choose a position that is either a hands on, or is a cubicle dweller.

Regardless of your final choice, I'd strongly recommend that you track down and obtain any professional certifications related to the career you choose. Compared to applicants with equal experience/education, the certification essentially puts your resume on the top of the pile nearly every time.

Good luck

I graduated with a degree in Psychology and now a whole year later I'm going back for a B.S. in Nursing. So it all depends on what you want to do.
