Well, of course you can, simply by turning the ignition to the on position putting the auto trans into neutral and getting the car rolling down a hill and then shifting into gear. The problem is that the auto trans has a viscuous coupling essentially and so there is some slippage and inefficiency in transmitting the the turning energy of the drive wheels through the trans and to the flywheel when you suddenly engage the trans. As a consequence, the car needs to be rolilng at a significantly faster speed. You can accomplish it on a reasonably good hill, but not likely just by getting a couple of people to give it a push.

OK when you say jump start that means something different to me so I say yes. When you jump start a car you use jumper cables. If you are talking about starting a manual transmission car, you can sometimes push it and let the clutch out to get it started.

Of course, Connect the jumper cables to both the batteries - negative with negative (black) and - positive with positive (red cables). Let the donor motor run for a few minutes. Rev the donor motor up a couple of hundred rpm when cranking the receiving motor. Remove the cables when successful.

yet sure, in case you initiate in a million, then it won't upshift till you progression the selector to 2, etc. even with the shown fact that, shifting the selector earlier it feels waiting to upshift won't inevitably tension a shift. with a prominent motor vehicle, the only time there's a real benefit to overriding the automated transmission like that (till that's a activities motor vehicle with a handbook shift decision, like the "tiptronic" transmission which i've got self assurance is on the market in german automobiles.) is that if the vehicle is "kit searching" it relatively is the term for consistently shifting up and down between 2 gears (like on an prolonged improve, while severe kit is completely a sprint TOO severe) you may tension it to stay interior the decrease kit. we've reached an era while the controller in our automatic transmission is surely greater efficient at choosing the superb kit than the in many situations occurring driving force.

Yes, you can. With the ignition on and the car in neutral, get it up to 50 mph and slide the shifter into first. This will produce enough pressure in the transmission to turn the torque converter.
