I have worked in a law firm that handles asbestos claims for 20 years, here are the facts. Asbestos was the best insulation made, problem was it caused cancer. Not every one who is around will develop the disease. If the asbestos is used in the ceiling and walls as insulation it would be a mistake to buy, especially if you have small children. If the home just has asbestos siding on the outside it will be fine as long as you do not disturb it.

It depends on what form the asbestos is in. If it's just pressed asbestos tiles, like the siding on my house, it poses no risk. If it's fibrous insulation, then there is a serious potential for severe health problems. Hire a home inspector, and get his opinion. If it is dangerous, it might be cost-prohibitive to fix it. Good luck!

Sounds like a beautiful home, but, if you really want to buy this home, you might want to bring in a team to remove all that asbestos, the process is costly, again,
it all depends on how bad she wants this home.

Get someone to estimate the cost of asbestos removal and subtract the cost from the seller's price. You should also be concern with the lead paint as well.

Asbestos is pretty neutral, it won't kill you off if you don't go around messing with it. Best bet is to paint over it. Or there are contractors who you can hire to remove it (don't try and do it yourself! You will die), check the yellow pages

removing asbestos can be very costly and of course it is dangerous for your health. try to negotiate the price of the house and get the reduction on the price,so you can removed by your self or ask the owner to removed for you.
