here is what I think...Majority of the people have certain association with the celebrities. We the people only make them celebrities by putting them on a higher pedestal. Their heroism in the movies make them trust-able, reliable. We also happen to agree to the fact that in order to pretend their roles they must be training-teaching their selves to bring out the best of the character they are playing.
All in all, they gain the trust easily than you or me speaking on television as their long & repetitive presence on the media give them that credibility. So when they speak the words written by someone or just on their own; It counts. It does pursue majority of the people - who are the followers.
Who knows that the words they are saying is actually what they feel? or again they are acting - lending their "credibility" to someone else to gain some votes. It works in many cases of course sadly.

I always find myself sending out a little pray that Americans don't listen. On one hand it also irks me to no end that there money buys them a louder voice than the average American but we have no class system here right? lol. There money seems to buy them higher citizenship rights. My answer to this is simple.
I have a hit list. Every time I hear about a celebrity getting on a soap box about politics they go on the list and I never for as long as I am alive contribute to their finances. It won't change things unless everyone did it but it makes me feel better knowing they don't have my money backing their mouth.

I could care less who celebrities endorse.
It constantly amazes me that people think that just because someone has made a success out of something that puts you in the public eye that they would know more about politics than anyone else.
It's an indication of a very shallow culture in my opinion.

First of all how do you know they haven't grown up in political families? I think celebrities have as much right to express opinions and endorse polticians as much as anyone else does. Something about your first ammendment .... freedom of speech etc. Or is that only for those who support the current Cosnervative right wing government?

It interests me to see what the celebrities think about our elected officials, and/or the people who are running for an election. I'm always curious what they have to say, whether I agree with them or not.
HOWEVER, the actual opinions of the celebrities do NOTHING to sway my vote! I study the candidates and the issues on my own and make up my own mind, thank you very much! *chuckle*
