Moving to Florida from New York has both its advantages and disadvantages. I am just going to list a few of the advantages and disadvantages that could help assist you;

Advantages

Great Weather with no snow
A lot of major city to live in
Home of Disney World
A great travel vacation spot in America
Major cities have a great nightlife scene

Disadvantages

Hurricanes during the Summer and Fall
Houses with no basements (unless you live in FL near the GA/AL Border Line)
Very Hot and Humid All Year Around

It depends what you're looking for, and where in Fla you wanna go. If You choose Miami, It will be hard because it's soo expensive down here, and the pay isn't that great, unless you have a degree in a high demand job... Florida Is great. I was born and raised here, and love it, but I plan on relocatin because the hurricanes are out of hand, and it's hard to get ahead, especially for someone who's just getting into starting to become independant....

I moved from a northern state down here to Florida and I love it! It can get pretty hot, but there is always AC. No more shoveling snow, no more scraping of windows on cars. The beach is a drive away, and you can always find someone who lived where you used to live.

If you like the Sun and Beaches, But I must warn you as you already know we get hurricanes and there are many here that don't speak not a lic of english, other than that it's a great state to live in.

it depends ...my brother did the exact same thing and it didn't turn out to good...he did it b/c he was getting depressed but now hes more unhappy there than he was here b/c he missed his friends and the only reason he would want to stay is b/c of his girlfriend. if your gonna go make sure you have a reason...id say its more of a vacation spot
