Teachers feel required to say that to boost student's confindence levels. There is such a thing as a stupid question, and I have found that there are really more stupid questions than legitimate ones on Yahoo Answers.
However, I found your question to be completely legitimate. I do associate names that way. And the one you mentioned I hate with a burning passion. It's actually the only name there is out there that I feel rage upon hearing. So it's a good thing I only had to read it, huh...lol

I'm not a teacher, but this whole yahoo questions thing has proved the long unanswered question. Yes there are stupid questions, due to the mass amount of stupid people that are in this world. But that doesn't mean that your question was stupid. Stupidity is all in the eye of the beholder. I guess.

ANY teacher would say no? There are no absolutes. Some of the questions that appear here are so stupid they deserve no answer, except STUPID!!

yes, there is such a thing as a stupid question. "Why do cars have 4 wheels?" is different when asked by a 4 year old than, say, a 44 year old for instance. It has to do with maturity and "knowing better."

Most teachers would say no but once they came here to Yahoo Answers I'm sure they would change their minds and say that there are most definitely stupid questions.

Ya there is and a teacher would say so too. Take it from me, I get "O, that was a stupid question." from my teachers all the time.

There is never a stupid question.
A person is stupid because they do not ask a question and will remain stupid.
A person is smart when they ask questions because they have just learn something new.
