Chichen Itza is really cool, we took a tour bus there. Cancun is all commercialized, and overrun with underage drinkers. There is a ecotour of some sort near La Playa, that is good. Swim some cenotes. You can take a boat out to Cozumel, but I would guess it's very similar to Cancun. I wouldn't recommend driving there. Take taxis and hold on! Their driving ettiquette is very different! I'd skip the bus rides to the other resorts, you can swim in a pool at home. Enjoy as many of the excursions offered by your resort as you have time for. Our resort had a mariachi band most evenings that was fun to watch. The other guests at the resort were a bit snobby, just like on cruises. But the waiters and cleaning ladies were really sweet and very helpful. I'm jealous! Have fun!

GO TO CHICHEN ITZA!!!!!! It's hot, humid, and a LONG ride to get there, but by far one of the most amazing places you'll ever see
