Rita has mainly two origins. One is shor for Margarita or other similar names ending in well rita, and its varied descent (english, scandinavia, german, italian, spanish and portuguese). It can also be a shortened or newer version of the finnish Riita which is a shor form of Bridgett. You can do a search on baby names origins. Its meaning in Greek is pearl and precious.
