I think that all college athletes should get paid enough to buy whatever equiptment they want. That way they wuld be satisfied and play enthusiastically. But the Mascots are part of the fan group, and help the team connect witht he fans. So the mascots certainly should not be done away with.

The first topic is probably more interesting and timely. However, the second topic has also drawn attention.

Whichever topic you choose, make a list of the advantages and disadvantages of each position, pro and con. Then, in your opinion, determine which side outweighs the other.

Questions to think about: If college athletes are paid, do they all get paid the same? What about the player(s) who spend most of the time on the bench? Do they get paid the same amount as a starter who plays regularly? What if a player gets hurt and can't play? Does he still get paid? Is it up to each school to decide how much to pay players? If so, will the rich schools get the best players? Personally, I think that paying college athletes would create as many problems as it would solve.

Rather than asking whether mascots should be eliminated, the question should consider what mascots are appropriate. They definitely give the school and identity and do a lot for school and team spirit. Some schools have been in the news because it has been felt that their mascots were offensive to some races or cultures. For example, I believe it was Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, that changed its name from the Warriors to the Eagles or Golden Eagles, because some were offended by the word Warriors. Personally, I believe mascots should stay, but they do need to be appropriate.

Whether or not college athletes should be paid would be highly controversial. Are the rest of the colleges attendees going to be paid as well?

Quite a few athletes are paid to attend if you consider many very good players get scholarships. It means their college tuition is generally pre-paid.

Granted on the other hand people pay admission to see the college games and some are even televised. So in effect the players that don't receive grants or scholarships do help bring in funds for the college.

Paying college athletes would be saying brawn is worth more than brains. Most people go to college to increase their knowledge not their muscles. Really strange our priorities. I have a hard time answering this one.

Mascots? STAY, they keep up the moral and they are fun to watch. ESPECIALLY when the referees call a bad play. They get to say in mime what the coaches would be fined for saying. I say keep the little critters. . . . .they are fun to watch.

First thought - you should have posted this in some sort of relationship q & a board since this really isn't about motorcycles. Second thought - it sounds like you should break up with your boyfriend since you clearly are looking elsewhere and aren't enjoying your time with him. This new guy wants more than to have you just ride his bike, and it sounds like that's what you want too - so get rid of the boyfriend that keeps you from ever having fun, and enjoy your life. Then there is no cheating. You are too young to be tied down by a jealous boyfriend.

If you are asking which one is a better paper topic, then the payment of college athletes is probably more interesting.

it be a great idea but not all colleges are as good as others . i mean some really suck . how would they compete it takes money to earn money and you only get money from winning and fans . some colleges don't get very many fans or win.
