It's the AutoComplete feature of your web browser. It's supposed to be a helpful tool that saves previous searches so you don't have to retype them if you need to search for them again. I think it gets a bit annoying too. Here's how to turn it off:
In Internet Explorer (I'll assume that's the browser you use), go to
1. Go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options...
2. Select the Content tab
3. Under the Personal Information area, click on AutoComplete...
4. Unclick the box box by Forms under the Use AutoComplete for section.
5. Click OK and OK again and you're set.
You can also turn off the AutoComplete section for web addresses and username/password menus as well.
To find more information on it, go to the Help menu and search for AutoComplete.
Happy (menu-annoyance free) searching!

★★ DISABLE AUTOCOMPLETE ★★
◙ Internet Explorer
1. From Internet Explorer, choose "Tools" then "Internet Options".
2. From the "Internet Options" multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, select the "Content" tab.
3. Click the "AutoComplete" button.
4. Uncheck everything.
5. Click the "Clear Forms" button.
6. Click the "Clear Passwords" button.
7. Press "OK" to close the dialog boxes.
◙ NOTE: AutoComplete may not stay off completely because some webmasters have autocomplete="on" in the form tag in their web forms. If you come to one of these and you can't get the AutoComplete to leave you alone while you type something in to the form. Simply paste the text in from a wordprocessor or notepad and it won't bother you.
