My upstairs toilet barely flushes. When I flush, it fills, then slowly drains. I've checked the tank and everything seems to be working all right in there. I've even tried a plunger, just in case. Anyone have any advice?

If the bowl fills quickly when you flush.. but doesn't drain quick.. then you have a clog in the drain pipes or the traps in the commode itself.

Here's a few things to try:

1) Flush so it fills the bowl then put some liquid plumber or drano in and let sit. Flush again after it drains down to see if you get a better result.
2) Use a "plumber's helper" which is the rubber plunger and see if you can force out the clog. Becareful when you are using this for if the clog is in the pipes below the toilet, you can blow out the wax seal under the toilet and then you'll have to pull the toilet to fix.
3) Get a metal clothes hanger and straighten it out and use it to "dig around" in the toilet drain to see if you can dislodge the clog.

I was having lots of trouble with a toilet in my home and when I used the clothes hanger method I was able to dislodge the clog but still it would clog again after a few uses. I finally broke down and pulled the toilet. My kids (8, 6, & 3 at the time) were facisnated with the process and watched. When I finnally pulled out the cause of the clogging.. all three of them said "WOODY!". It seems that the small Toy Story doll that they had gotten from Burger King had been missing for a while. Anything missing around your home?

Hope this helps and good luck!

Has nothing to do with the tank. The toilet has a clog or the jet hole at the bottom of the toilet is clogged. I'd try a closet auger first.

Your drain is clogged. You can try to clear it with a snake or call a company like roto rooter.

best way - go to home depot or Lowe's and go to the plumbing department and ask one of the staff - they will know what the problem is and will be able to assist you in materials required to fix the job - as a friend - it could be several things - to answer here would be unfair to you because we can not see the problem
Good luck and it really is not that hard to fix a toilet -

You might have a clog, but it might be in the drain, pretty far in...
