I KNOW a lot of people are going to disagree with what I'm about to say... but that basically just means that you are missinformed. Blacks in the UK face a lot of the same obsticals as they do here in the US. Oppression. Many don't want to see blacks succeed. Many are born in to oppressed circumstances and find it hard to fight their way out of it. There are the lucky ones who do realize the possibilities, and are able to accomplish things. But, many are never taught that there are other options out there for them.

Curiosity - Blacks in the UK are a new relatively speaking. Most have come to better their lives and here lies the answer to your question.

HISTORY!!!!

Kinda got used to being depraved look in black history. The reverse could be said of others.(Generally speaking). So this is answers why theyare poor ; they started off that way.

Depressed ; this is because racism is bigger than ever - just called by a different name. The effects are the same - depressing prospects, wealth and health (Africa' s AIDS - no other population has been equally affected)

Lack of success in the corporate world is interesting??? Are you really grateful to Johnson and Johnson/ Colgate / Kleenix etc..A new world is dawning the world and it does nt want these ideas no more. So keep your corporate jobs. They will be your demise.

I think you will find that they are not poor or depressed and that they do very well in this country. It is the short mindedness of some people that can not see this. Blacks, Asian, Oriental or European they all come here to find good jobs and to work hard, it is just a shame that some people do not see it this way and think that they are only here for the benefit system. When clearly this is not the case. They have rights just as we do, so lets learn to get along.

Good question. But I do not think it is due to racism. If so the east Asians wouldn't be as successful as they are. as someone of mixed ethnicity I think some black people just have to look forward not backwards and get rid of the chips on their shoulders. as it happens I know quite a few West Indian immigrants who are firmly established in the comfortable middle class.

What a load of twaddle - the facts are completely distinct to your oddball opinion. Check out universities, check out the public sector, check out the professions, in fact, turn your computer off, get up off your bum, have a look outside - there's something there called reality - that's what you really need to check.

Oh please! Open your eyes and do not be so sad! Most blacks as you generalise them as, that I know are in much respected posts and making important changes for the better in their and my community! Black or white, it is simply a matter of attitude of mind ability and making the most of educational opportunities.
