I'm not asking whether the Iraq war was justified or not. I'm not asking if Bush is a good president or not.

All I ask is to provide the best evidence - quote and link, preferably - where Bush or a member of his administration said Iraq was behind 9/11.

Thanks.

Interesting how the quotes generally DO mention contacts between Iraq and Al-Qaeda, but do not state Iraq's involvement.

That doesn't sound like evidence of a lie to me. It sounds like there WERE contacts here and there (I don't think anyone is stating that Iraq never, ever had any contact, or that they never sponsred any terrorism) and that the administration was giving us all the evidence it had but not making any ultimate link. Exaggeration? We can debate that. But no "Iraq was involved in 9/11."

It's an indirect tie. Saddam to al Queda to 9/11.
"Saddam Hussein has longstanding, direct and continuing ties to terrorist networks. Senior members of Iraqi intelligence and al Qaeda have met at least eight times since the early 1990s. Iraq has sent bomb-making and document forgery experts to work with al Qaeda. Iraq has also provided al Qaeda with chemical and biological weapons training. And an al Qaeda operative was sent to Iraq several times in the late 1990s for help in acquiring poisons and gases. We also know that Iraq is harboring a terrorist network headed by a senior al Qaeda terrorist planner. This network runs a poison and explosive training camp in northeast Iraq, and many of its leaders are known to be in Baghdad."
George W Bush Feb 8, 2003 radio address

And this (second-hand):
"Iraq, along with Al Qaeda, was most probably involved in the September 11 attacks, and President Bush understands that. Already on September 17, six days later, Mr. Bush affirmed, "I believe Iraq was involved, but I'm not going to strike them now," - Bob Woodward "Bush at War"

Actually I heard a tape of Bush on Air America Radio specifically saying Saddam Hussein was NOT inolved with 9-11. Same source, a tape of Cheney saying Hussein "definitely" had WMD's and that they were an imminent danger to the US.

I don't believe anyone ever said that. That is part of the Left's big lie to get people on their side.
