How do you convey emotion ( something that is very subjective) in an abstract painting.

Strong, confident, bold brushtrokes, or short, hesitant ones......if you feel when you paint, it will come out through the way you apply the brush. Same thing with your handwriting. I would look online or get a book on handwriting experts who can get an idea of a person's personality or mood by looking at handwriting samples. The same principle applies to brushstrokes. Additionally, use of color and texture can help convey emotion.

through the lack of thought you put through in the art work.. thats why they call it abstract right?

I do it through a lens...because I can't draw worth a hoot.
