You're possibly part asian or part black.Or at one time the term was used as "come together,,,to make something good or complete"It's also possible that she saw the future as well because "soul" has been defined as a type of Ebony.To some people this term is as precious as any jewel.It's value was to die for,and many people did.It also goes as spiritual as it is deep.Be proud of the name,,sell it push it suceed to all your dreams and never let go of the sound of it,,it's ebony.

Well, there was a movie in the '60's or '70's called Ebony with a famous singer whose name escapes me. "Ebony and Ivory" on the keyboard, of course, another song. Ebony the strong, dark, precious wood. Hard to say what the word meant to your mom at the time you were born. Maybe she just like the sound of it.

It's a lovely name, and nothing be ashamed of. Maybe she had a thing for Stevie Wonder? Who knows why some parents name their children off-beat names. Just be glad she didn't name you something really crazy like Apple or Sari.
