Thank you to those of you who have helped me with my math, I learn by the answers, I learn how to do other problems with them.
Those of you who flame me every time, why do you come to the homework help and say those things?

I wish I knew.

I suppose they can feel better about their soi-disant superiority while gaining 2 points.

I always try to explain the answer rather just give it, because, as you said, it helps the student learn other problems.

In the end, it boils down to the universal truth that every collection pf people has its share of jerks. All you can do is shrug and move on.

It might be because out of 49 questions that you (and your mother?) have asked, 31 of them have been about algebra. I try not flame people and don't mean to now, just want to try and explain. But you say you are learning from the answers. If that were the case, you probably would be asking fewer questions as time went by. I'm not sure this is so.

Please take a moment to be honest with yourself and see if maybe you need more than just a quick fix from Yahoo Answers. You may need to address your algebra problems with a tutor or some extra after-school help from your teacher to clear up some of the points you are still not understanding.

There is only so much you can get from the answers and explanations you get on-line; you need something more hands-on, so someone can check your independent work and see that you really *are* catching on to the concepts and using them for yourself.

I agree with the answer above. While it's great that you are using Yahoo Answers to help you understand how to solve the math problems, if you do this every time you have a math problem before trying to attempt it yourself, you aren't doing yourself justice.

As the person above said, you may do better getting a tutor to help you. Although you get the answers from Yahoo Answers, do you understand the math processes that go behind the answers? Can you apply the formulas to different types of problems? If not, you may need to get help from someone in person (maybe your teacher after school?)

You're right. Granted, I get frustrated when people post questions in different categories, and try to brush it off as a deeper question (for example, if you ask a question about Jane Austen's view of property and value in the books and authors questions, I'll assume that's a homework question.)

But if you are identifying your question as a homework problem, then I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I just don't like being tricked into doing someone's homework for them.

I'm glad it helps you to learn from the answers - and you're right, in math that is the way to learn. I try to help with homework, but I usually stay away from math because I stink at it - sorry :)
