Recalling troops is not the same as a draft.

Right now the Marine Corps is trying to draft a lot of their former marines, because they are not getting enough volunteers to keep the ranks up. This is why the democrats are saying we need to reinstate the draft. They don't want to draft people that have never served yet. Maybe if they do reinstate the draft more people will volunteer, just so they can get the extra benefits that you don't get if drafted.
But as far as this being the Democrats plan it's not that easy. The President is not the only one to make the decision to enact the draft. It first has to be approved in congress, then the president gets to say yes or no.

This is not a plan by Democrats. Who is in office right now? Who is recalling thousands of inactive Marines back to active duty? Is the President of the US a Democrat? But all that political bull aside, we need to do everything possible to bring our troops home so they can defend the USA, not Iraq. But, no, now they want to defend Lebannon as well. The pot is about to boil over and when it does the USA will be left defenseless because our troops are everywhere but here!

No, it is just to scare other people and get more votes for themselves by making it appear as if the draft is the republicans fault. In Congress when the war started to turn the slightest bit sour, a very few amount of democrats proposed a bill to put the draft into effect. It was obviously shot down by an overwhelmingly majority

No, the draft is only needed in time of extreme national emergency such as a World War. There should be a concentrated effort on the part of the armed forces to atract enough recruits by making a military career attractive and desirable.

No, we just need to stop spreading our forces throughout the world. It's a sad thing that the nat'l guard has basically become the int'l guard. The democrats are not going to support a draft, at this point in our country that would be political suicide especially because so many of the most regular voters are baby boomers (Vietnam was part of their youth).

Yes, we need to bring back the draft.
Not as it was before but without deferments.
How many children of Congressmen are serving in Iraq?
For that matter, how many of the chicken-hawks who sent us into this quagmire called Iraq have ever done REAL military service? Those two-faced bastards like to sling around the phrase "Freedom isn't free" but only want to pay for it with the blood of OTHER people's children. If their own children were at risk, they wouldn't be so quick to get us into unnecessary, illegal, immoral and costly wars.
I'm here to tell you that it is true that freedom isn't free. The rich, however, aren't paying for it. They hardly ever have. The poor, looking for a way out of their poverty, have always "volunteered."
As though they had a real choice.

Isn't Democratic Strategist an oxymoron? If the Democrats want to pull out of Iraq, then why do we need to reinstate the draft? Could they be feeding people a load of lies with their supposedly anti-war stance??

We should bring back the draft. Especially for high shool drop outs. 2 years in the Army would be the best thing for this nation of spoiled brats.

Recalling inactive Marines IS a draft. It wasn't a voluntary recall on the part of the Marines.
