What is the role of rhetoric in fluencing people's attitudesand beliefs? How can readers distingish between prejudicial and non-predicial use of rhetorical devices?

Rhetoric has a lot to do with framing the issues of the debate in a certain vocabulary that resonates with the audience.

There is much talk that the conservative right in America has mastered this, and this is why they are much more successful in swaying the public than the left.

Readers can distinguish by being fully informed on the subjects involved, but, sadly, this is America, and no one cares.
