Has your husband asked for any compensation? Be careful of this, if put on a vehicle reimbursement the company may require you to carry extra insurance naming the company as additional insured. This will raise your rate significantly.

Providing a company vehicle is an option if the company has vehicles. If not it becomes a liability for the company, as well as having to provide upkeep, etc. Many times people do not take care of company vehicles as well as they take care of their own.

Did your husband agree to use his vehicle as a condition of his employment? Did he agree to provide transportation for the other workers? Do the others help pay for gas?

There are many options here.

any company should compensate an employee for using a personal car for business purposes. The current government rate I believe is $0.45 / mile. So your husband should be submitting expense reports with mileage for reimbursement. (this mileage can also be taz deductible if you itemize your tax returns) The company may or may not have a policy for purchasing vehicles for employees.

If they are not willing to consider allowing him a corporate vehicle OR to reimburse him for mileage, I think he should find another job.

SAY THE WORDS: This job is taking a toll on my car and my gas budget. Either provide a company car or increase my salary significantly, $100p/w or more. If he says no, FIND ANOTHER JOB!
