...also known as the war on drugs, has turned much of Central and South America into violent hell holes controlled by gangsters. Why were Americans able to see that alcohol prohibition was responsible for an explosion in organized crime and the violence that comes with it, and so repealed prohibition, but can not see that the exact same outcome has happened with drug prohibition? Is keeping your neighbor from getting high in his living room really worth the cost of the lives destroyed and the chaos that results from such a futile and ill conceived assault on freedom?

I still believe that if all currently illegal drugs were declared legal, drug traffickers would naturally be put out of business. Then places in Central and South America can be redeveloped and their citizens can live in tranquility and with a hope for the future.

There is no mystery here. The National Prohibition Act of 1919, or the Volstead Act, named after REBUPLICAN representitve Andrew Volstead, otherwise known as the 18th amendment was nothing more than pressure from the religeous right applying pressure on the government of the day (sound familiar) and it spawned mob politics. They some how forgot that the prophet they worshiped was the one who created alcohol. This was soon repealed by the 21st amendment 14 years later but by then the criminal infrastructure had deep roots which still exist especially in the south. Too bad, so sad.

The War on Drugs is a political tool. Again, invented by a REPUBLICAN, Mr. R.M. Nixon ( I liked this guy at the time, but then I smoked-up at 15 and the rest is history - he sponsered a full blown study on grass that was buried in the archives because it showed pot was NO BIG DEAL, that was not good).

So, as the Vatican reamins the conduit for Herion trafficing to the USA via the Jesuits, run by Count Carl Kolvenbach (the Black Pope) and the Mob which controls the production all under the watchful eye of the Knights of Malta who are the strong arm for the Commitee of 300 which is currently chaired by the Queen of England......do you get the picture. This shite has been going on for decades and nobody gives a hoot-nanny! Prohibition does not even compare in terms to this established criminal infrastructure.

This is why the War on Drugs exists where it does. These countries have deparados that have little to loose or gain. They have recognized certain cash crops and are exploiting them. Their governments accept token investments from the US to fight a war that does not really exist but makes good political posturing. I would not be the least bit surprised if it was funded throught the profits of the heroin trade, naaa - it's funded by the American taxpayer.

So in conclusion I ask, Why does the Government put peaceful, fun loving, non-violent pot smokers away for life, while they themselves commit human and political atroscities?

God (not mine) Bless America.

It's easier for Americans to ignore the increase in organized crime when the increase is happening in other countries, destroying their lives and corrupting their governments.

The "War on Drugs" is a failed notion based on supply-side thinking & it needs to be reformed, if not ceased entirely.

Drug legalization, however, shouldn't happen overnight. It needs to be done in a way that won't cause an explosion in the number of addicts, which would greatly increase the costs of health care and health insurance. There has to be a smart way to do it.

Always easier to beat on the foreign sources than address the real problems at home.
