An ecosystem is actually defined as interdependent components functioning for the benefit of the continued health of the system.

An example would be Yahoo answers: We function as an ecosystem for eachother's benefit. People that ask questions get answers, which add value to the system. The answerer gets points, which are kinda like the points on the Jim Carey show. The value to the answerer is testing our knowledge and helping someone. It is also fun to get the reward of the best answer.
