Riding in the snow is dangerous and really uncomfortable. People generally underestimate how much colder it feels when you're moving fast and are all open to the elements.
Rain riding is less dangerous than people tend to think. You do want to go a little slower in turns, stay a little more upright and give yourself a little more time to stop but as long as you have decent tires the traction will be good. It's actually more slippery going over gravel with street tires than it is riding in the rain.
If you wear a full face helmet in heavy rain it may become harder to see. The best way to fix this at speed is to turn your head slightly to the left and right (keeping your eyes forward) and the wind will blow much of the water off. In light rain, it is less of a problem since the water is too close to be in the focal region of your eyes.

I have done both snow only once and i will never ever think of doing it again. I almost killed myself. Rain many of times sometimes you just get caught in a storm. Slow down be and don't panic if you have some experience riding you should be OK but you never know. And take a Safety course learn how to ride safe for you and the others around you

Cold temperatures are difficult to drive in just because you are not really surrounded by anything other than cold streaming air. Leather is important when riding in cold. There are even heated vests to snap into some leather jackets to help keep you warm. Just realize when buying a motorcycle you must buy all the necessary gear to ride safely. You should price gear out also to see if it fits your budget & amount of time you can actually take the bike out. Good Luck!

it's not a pleasant experience. My ex-boyfriend used to work as a messenger on his motorcycle in Chicago. In the winter too... bad news...
Although there is a motor sport called Ice racing...
Anyway, if you don't get caught in too much rain, it's not too bad. But if you get caught in a downpour (which I have for miles and miles at a time) you get soaked to the bone, plus the wind doesn't help at that point.
Just keep checking the doppler... I became an expert in reading the doppler radar... Sometimes I could time my ride between breaks in the rain..

Well, I used to test drive for Harley Davidson. Inclement weather was a daily occurance. Be sure to get quality gear. Leathers are so important.
Any motorcycle riding is difficult. People do not see you, or choose not to. They will be your biggest obstical. Consider a riding school, you will be taught how to handle may dangerous situations. You might get a insurance discount as well.
Well, be safe and keep the rubber side down!!!

Don't drive in snow. It's not just difficult, it's extremely dangerous.
As far as rain goes, you never know where the oil/grease spots are.
I've seen guys riding confidently in the rain. Personally, I'm extremely cautious, take corners slow, etc. Footpegs and handlebars don't come cheap, and roadrash, well, It's no fun.

i was on I-80 in montana last summer and it started snowing. the "anti-lock" bmw brakes locked up. then i pulled over - ALL (and there were a lot of us) HAD to pull over onto the shoulder because NO ONE can handle a motorcycle in the snow.
the rain is fine. have decent tires and take the curves with much less speed. dress warm and dry. hypothermia can come quick on a bike.

I would not even joke about riding in the snow. The rain can be done, but its very dangerous. You have to go slow or your tires will slip out. It is harder to wick the rain away from the tires unlike a car.

It is not hard to ride in the rain as long as you do not turn quick or lay into a curve to hard but riding in the snow can be dangerous and tricky, Even for a person who has been riding for several years

Rain? No problem, it happens.
Snow is another story. Things that usually stay upright by themselves(cars), tend to wind up on thier sides, or off the road.
Snow can be treacherous, as it hides the ice on the road. It can also become the ice.
Cold can be dealt with, if you are careful.
From ice to ice, the weather's nice-- answer to another question
