The links below should be helpful to you in figuring out how to wean gently and how to offer a bottle.
I'd suggest that you go slowly. If possible, offer baby pumped milk in the bottle. Have someone other than mom offer the bottle while mom is in another room or out of the house for a short time. Have them try different positions....hold the baby like you do when nursing, face the baby towards the caregiver, walk around while getting the bottle started, etc.

Try giving her the playtex drop ins bottles, they are the ones with the disposable liners, My daughter is breastfed and this is the only bottle she will use for supplements. Also try pumping some milk and give that to her first in the bottle for a week or two so she gets used to the bottle and then switch to formula. Babies like consistency and when you try to change everything on them they get all freaked out. Also don't wait until she is very hungry or you will never get her to take it! Good Luck

either pump or give formula even though breastmilk is so much better... why do u want to wean at 4 months? i went a yr with mine. but.. try different TYPES of bottles, and when u do use a bottle try to get a nipple on the bottle the mimics a REAL nipple so the baby's not confused. and put the bottle and her kind of in the same spot you would if you were breatfeeding and try it with the lights low and when she first wakes up, she probably won't now the difference if you have the bottle read and everytthing

Some babies will never take bottles and you have to wait until your baby is eating well. Takes about 2 years.
We had a major problem when my daughter was in the hospital with a 3 week old that would not take a bottle. We forced him to eat but he was giving us dirty looks all the time. After two nights we took him to be with his mother at the hospital and one of us stayed with her as she could not get up and down. I have seen babies not take the breast too. Babies are born with minds of their own.

i had to buy every bottle under the moon. I breastfed until my daughter was a year. She wouldn't take sippy cups or bottles, she wouldn't drink milk (she was weird but I love her) so I tried soy, rice, whole milk, 1%,2% everything) ended up taking enfamil 8-24 month formula. And the only bottle she would take is the gerber bottle that is kinda shaped like a triangle (the bottle part is shaped like that) they have blue writing and a blue lid.

Keep on nursing her until she is ready to stop! I nurse my son until he was 2 1/2 years old. He is very healthy and happy! he weaned him self off of me 1 month before I found out I was pregnant. Allow her to keep nursing. she doesn't need a bottle she has you!

You may have to have someone else give the bottle to her. When she's hungry she'll take it. You may also have to leave for several hours or a day, to make sure she doesn't scream at you. Good luck!
