I'm about 21wks pregnant and the baby is VERY active. Will the cord wrap around his neck if he's doing flips and cartwheels in there?? My husband started my worrying about this the other night. Does it happen early like this or later when you go into labor? How can you tell? Thanks 1st pregnancy!!!!!!!

First of all I think it is very rare. You need to only think positive from here out! That is what my mom always told me when I would worry about that kind of stuff. When you have an ultra-sound you will feel better. Them babies are wild in there. Really, don't worry...just relax and if it bugs you to much talk to ur Doctor. Sounds like you and ur husband are off to a great start of parenthood.

Yes, it can wrap around his neck, a few times in fact. My son had a nuchal cord times 2 and was ok. The docs were able to release it before it caused any problems. With pregnancy, there are so many things to worry about but in the end you have a beautiful baby. GL!

Don't worry about 60% of baby's are born with the cord wrapped around neck, mine was born with it wrapped twice and i wasn't that active at all. She was born just fine. Plus the doc will fix it as soon as her head is out!

The cord can only wrap around the babies neck during labor and this is not uncommon but most babies come out fine

My first son was born with the cord around his neck. There wasn't anything wrong with it...they just made me stop pushing for a few seconds after his head was out so that they could get it untangled (It was wrapped around twice.).

I have a friend on here, that had that happen when she was 20 weeks pregnant, and her baby is stillborn. It doesn't mean that it'll happen to everyone. I had the same fears, but they're slowly subsiding. I wish I knew how frequent this stuff happens, but just pray to God for that little precious one, that He keeps it safe during the pregnancy and that you go through a non-complicated delivery.

Chances are your baby won't be doing flips and cartwheels in your stomach. The baby pretty much stays still...all it does it wiggle. It won't happen...there's a 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 chance that it will happen...so no worries dear. So start picking out names for it...
