I live in an area that gets really cold in the winter and I figure the weather is much nicer this time of year

It's never too early. I'm sure that there are Christmas sales just around the corner. You might want to wait until after Labor Day to put the baby Jesus on your lawn though.

I know what ya mean. I used to live in Illinois and it would get hella cold in the winter time and my mom went all OUT with Christmas lights and decorations. I swear, our house looked like Santa's Workshop... anyway, depending on where you live, I'd say late September/early October. That's when most of the stores start putting out Christmas displays. I'd say the lights are fine, but don't set out the Nativity Scene or the wooden candy canes or anything in the yard until after Thanksgiving.
Also, just fyi, sometimes with the temps going from hot to cold and back, can cause paint to chip off the lights, or them to not work.

Sure..hang the lights up now. I hope you do not live in a restricted community or the Homeowners association is going to come after you with a lynch mob.
