When liberals offer other ideas, they get called, "unhinged," or "not serious about safety" or "living in a pre 9/11 world" or "cut and runners." But here goes:
1- Get out of Iraq in 2-3 months. Do not leave even one soldier. Let the Iraqi's fight or decide their own fates.
2- Let Iran get the bomb since they will get it anyway. Talk to them and be diplomatic. They are not crazy; they want to live and have a government too.
3-Stop giving Israel loans, weapons, etc. They are on their own. See how long they keep acting as genocidal bullies when we're not there.
4- Free healthcare for all Americans, along with option for private healthcare.
5- Reduce the military budget ($471 billion last count per year) by 1/2 in 5 years. We don't need that much, since it really only goes to crooked companies and not soldiers.
5- Do a Manhattan Project type project to get new and better ways to delivering energy, as well as better energy than oil.
6- An Equal Rights Amendment (the one that failed in the 1980's).
7- Put more money into the schools, do away with that silly 'No Child Left Behind Act' and stop it with the Creationism stupidity.
8- Make drugs legal slowly (over 10 years) that will by effect lower the crime rate.
9- Overturn the Patriot Act and all such acts that have stripped American's of certain rights.
10- Apologize to world governments that we have overthrown in order to help American "interests" which really are the interests of the rich. If only for the reason that some populations of some countries would have a better image/idea of us, which in turn helps the U.S. in terms of trade, opinion and security.
11- Have a simplified tax code. The more you make, the more you pay, without loopholes. The highest tax bracket would be 48% and would go for anyone making over $200,000, to be adjusted yearly for inflation.

There. Laugh and deride away.

Alternative suggestions:

We shouldn't have declared war on Iraq, Bush did, now it's time to get out. The President's response?? "Stay the course".
Foreign policy, non-existent. Let's start acting like world leaders again and actually talk to people instead of all the sword rattling bullshit. Nothing is being done to wean us off fossil fuel. It's all lip-service. Many foreign countries are using nuclear as well as alternative fuel sources. Brazil gets almost all of their fuel from their sugar cane supply. Why aren't hybrid vehicles at LEAST being pushed?? Stem cell research. That's simple, we're throwing away these embryonic cells yet Bush doesn't want to commit "murder" to try and further advances in medical technology??? Where's the reasoning there?? We're treating gays and lesbians the way we treated African-Americans back in the 50's & 60's.....what's happened to basic human rights?? These are just a few. There are solutions if you're open minded enough to look for them.

Two reasons.

In government, there have been dozens of state legislatures that have made specific proposals to Congress on what should be done, and dozens of liberal and Democratic bills that have been sponsored.

The problem is, Congress is currently controlled by the Republican party, and specifically the neo-con movement within that party, so most of those proposed bills never even make it out of committee to get voted on, let alone have any chance of passing. That's the problem with partisan politics, and what often happens with one party (either party) gets control of both chambers of Congress.

Around here, because almost any time alternative solutions or options are proposed, a number of people come in and start bashing the poster for daring to present it. With that kind of hate-filled feedback, it's no wonder that few people have the interest in participating. And that applies on both sides of the aisle.

I'm not a liberal (or a conservative), but I've made many specific proposals relating to immigration reform, the war in Iraq, conducting effective surveillance programs in compliance with existing laws, electoral college problems, same-sex marriage debate, proposed constitutional amendments, and so on.

How many more alternatives do you want?

alternative suggestions to what?

And doesn't that also apply to "libtards" Dummicrats" etc, as well?
-----------
Iraq: Never should have gone in.
Sex education inschools: WTF are you talking about? Are you against it or something?
Isreal: Again, WTF are you talking about? Israel attacked Lebanon and Bush didn't rebuke them. That was Israel's call to make. If Bush wants to support Israel, that is his prerogative.
Social Security: Is necessary for the elderly who have little retirement income Do you have a problem with that?

How about Bush cutting taxes in such a manner that the wealthy manily benefit? I wouldn't
How about Bush reducing mercury emissions standards? I wouldn't.
How about Bush denying global warming? I would recognize it as a threat and devote time and resources to combat it.
How about Bush and his minions "outing" Vlaerie Plame, an undercover CIA agent, sworn to protect US from foreign enemies, because of spite and malice against her husband? Don't think I would've done that either.
How about Bush racking up the three largest deficits in US history during his first 6 yrs, while waging an unnecessary invasion of a neutral country and trying to cut taxes for the wealthy? Uh uh. The budget would either be balanced or I wouldn't sign it.

How about using the same CIA as a scapegoat and blaming it for faulty Iraq intelligence when in fact, Bush had already made up his mind to invade that country regardless? Well, I don't think that was too shrewd to savage the morale of the intelligence personnel who work tirelessly to defend US, do you?

I could go on, but who has the time? Besides, I am not a liberal. I just despise Bush.

I'm probably as conservative as I am liberal, and all these suggestions cut both ways, but here goes:

1) arrest any and all bureaucrats responsible for 9/11 coverup and fake war in Iraq ... and their cronies
2) impeach the President and his cabal
3) institute meaningful election and campaign finance reform
4) federal budget reform to end porkfest
5) constitutional amendment governing Federal bureaucracy (aka "the Executive Branch")
6) constitutional amendment giving war powers to Congress
7) comprehensive ethics reform of Congress and Executive

And I see a lot of questions from the other side as well calling the liberals names. When will it end. Extreme measures and beliefs on both ends are not going to help the situation. Have we forgotten about compromise?

I guess for some compromise must be a 4 letter word.

Why must someone suggest an active alternative to idiocy in order to point it out? Doing nothing is better than doing the wrong thing.
