Because there are so many people who feel that they have to steal for a living rather than do actual work. It is the "get rich quick" syndrom. All life has scams, and it is up to the buyer to beware. Through the Internet criminals can reach around the globe and retain their anonimity. Victims never see a face and have little to base an opinion on.
Also, once you have parted with your money, it becomes very difficult to trace it.
Computer specialists out of work in the former Soviet republics engineer keylogger programs to steal credit card numbers, bank account nnumbers, passwords, etc. This is how they steal other's identity--all without the victims ever seeing them. The perfect setup for criminals.

Because you have done everything necessary for spammers and scammers to get your email address. Since you never bothered to read the tons of info, provided by Yahoo in the Help pages to avoid this garbage, you want to be the VICTIM and blame Yahoo for your laziness.
