This is probably a dumb question and I'm probably being parnoid but...I'm going to the beach next weekend and I am kind of concerned with getting in the water. Should I be concerned of the waves hitting my abdomen when entering the water?

*Please don't waste my time with stupid answers. Thanks!

I went to the beach when I was pregnant with my both of my kids (we lived in Florida at the time). I wouldn't recommend body surfing or playing in real rough surf, but gentle rolling waves shouldn't be a problem. I was a little nervous too, and generally tried to turn as the waves came in so they hit me in the back rather than on the abdomen. Have fun and congratulations!

You should be fine even though the ocean can throw up some pretty intense waves sometimes. Try putting your arms out in front of you when you are walking in to block the waves so the force is more on your forearms/hands than hitting your tummy. And have fun! Being in the water when you are pregnant feels so nice!

i live in Ohio but we have waves pools at water parks that are semi like the ocean. I went to one at 18 weeks and 20 weeks never had a problem either time. I very confident it was safe. If your body starts giving you signs that you are over doing it just get out. Be sure to drink a lot of water in the heat. You body will let you know if you need to rest you'll get a sore back or cramps. HAVE FUN i never had a problem we spent like 7 hours out each time with breaks in between to eat and drink water and stuff.

Absolutely not.....being in the water is actually very calming to the fetus. The call is up to you, but the waves ahould not be that hard unless it is stormy. If it does concern you while you are in the water twist your body to the side so the abdomen does not take the brunt of the wave.

You'll be fine. The water hitting your belly won't hurt the baby. The baby is cushioned inside by the amniotic fluid. The baby won't feel a thing!

You go and relax. Have a great time! Make sure to wear lots of sunblock though, because pregnant skin burns really easily.

There is no need to be concerned unless you are going into water with waves that can knock a ship over. The baby is living in water already, this is a natural element. Enjoy!!

You and the baby should be fine in the waves as long as they aren't strong enough to knock you over. The baby is very small and is protected in amniotic fluid, deep inside your belly. That will protect the baby.

No, you'll be fine. Remember women have been having babies for thousands of years in all sorts of conditions/working environments. Going for a little swim will cause no harm. Babies are pretty resilient creatures!
