First you start with the warm water to open the pores, then you proceed with your cleanser/soap, in a circular motion at the forhead you scrub/wash, work your way down the bridge of your nose, out to your cheeks again using the circular motions (make sure your cloth is sudsy) work your way down to your chin in circular motions and rinse clean with the warm water repeat the same step this time going from your chin up and upon completing go over one time with a gentle sweeping motion with a toner from the middle out. the cold/cool water will close the poors immediately locking in the moisture you just put there, you can do this either with a cool cloth or by splashing the water on your face...it feels better when you use the cloth and just pat it on your face NEVER "wipe" your face or body dry, always pat it dry or let it air dry.
Also from time to time when you notice dry skin patches coming about the face use and exfoliater--like a face scrub or mask

Wetten the flannel (facial towel) with warm water, close you're eyes and let it rest on you're face for a few minutes, this allows the pores to open.
Next using a little bit more warm water apply a little soap to your face and the flannel.
Rub the flannel all over to remove old skin cells, and them give you're face a massage with your fingertips to remove any deep rooted dirt.
Next rinse with cold water to close the pores(no need for face cloth, just splash it off)
Use a soft towel, and gently pat dry (dont rub dry it leaves the skin dry and irritated)
Always apply a fragrance and color free cream or lotion straight after wards to prevent dirt from getting in the pores and skin from drying out.
Good luck.

You should wet your face with the warm water then use the facial soap and massage it into your skin then use the cold water to rinse your face and get rid of the soap. When you are finished you should pat, not rub, your face dry with a towel.

I always wash my face using an exfoliating cloth, this gently scrubs away any dead skin and makes it feel smooth and fresh. I also use a natural soap, blot dry with a towel and then use a good moisturizer. I use Nivea, it isn't expensive but I have very dry skin and it works for me. I have used this method all my life, and I have great skin. ( I am in my fifties).
