If the word is not challenged by another player, then the word and points stay as if the word was spelled correctly.
If your word is challenged and it is incorrectly spelled, then you remove your tiles and forfeit your turn.

I Suggestion to look at the directions that are given with the board game, Usually when a word is spelled wrong in our group of friends we don't get to play the word.
We look the word up in a dictionary, which I recommend to everybody to have on hand while playing this game. That way you know if the word is correct or not before playing the word.

Yes, you miss a turn and find out how the word is properly spelled. At least that's how they do it at Scrabble competitions.

The other players jump up and say something like "You are not going to get away with incorrect spelling like that. Fix it!"
And they don't even have a built in spell-checker for it - they just drag out a dictionary to settle disputes.
