Its best if you have a "free edge' of any length before applying any type of artificial nails.

The reason: You want enough coverage at the end of your nail so the nail adhesive (glue) won't stick to your skin.

The healthier your natural nail, the less likely the fake one will lift up. Yet~ conversely that same- entire natural nail will be destroyed by it. Whoa, don't freak! That's okay it will grow.

So when you remove the fake nails, use the right chemicals and be very patient and gentle to your natural nails. Keep them covered with a strong clear polish {Sally's hard as nails} to protect the delicate nail plate as it grows.

Please use a very hygenic nail tech. That is critical to your entire health.

Lovely hands are an extention of your beauty.

the natural nail should be in good condition, with no cuts or sores around the nail. if you are a nail biter i would advise you try adn stop biting for 2 weeks prior to getting acrylic nails, if nails are bitten down really badly, and white tips are applied, they will look totally rubbish as the nail will have to go too far down tha nail plate!

I had them done a while back and my nails really were bitten down, they can do them but warn becuase there is less nail bed more chance of them breaking off. My sister has two lots, she has full nails then tips on top to make them stronger but obviously pays more for them. Find a good nail technician and stick with them cos acrylic nails damage your nails underneath. I kept mine on long enough to get out of the habit of biting them and for them to grow a little. They were soft and a bit damaged when they came off but rub lots of solar oil on them to help your own nails be strong.

They can be any length, I bite my nails VERY low, and I still go ing and have them done from time to time. They just have to put the tip on lower, so if you get white tips for a french manicure, they are going to start out lower on your nail. But yes, they can do it! Have a fun day at the salon!

No they don't. It would help to have some nail overhang, unless you want an acrylic nail tip overlay, with this they will cut any overhang, and apply a nail tip then the acrylic.

No there are no requirements - apart from having some sort of nail there.

They stick long ones on, cut them down to size and gel/acrylic them.

No, actually when you get your nails done they cut all your real nail off, down to the tip of your finger.

It shouldn't matter as long as you use a decent technician.
If your nails are short or your a biter, pay attention to how the tech treats your nails, they should give them lots of TLC.
