I have been driving along time, I have no points and an excellent driving record. I do the speed limit and people drive by me like I am not even moving! So one day, in passing another car, I get a ticket fro speeding. My question is, what should I expect today at court and are there heavy fines, etc . . . I never went to court for something like this...

I have an ebook I bought on ebay on how to beat speeding tickets. Probably a little too late now, but I could send it if you provided an email address.

It's really not that bad. You will have to pay a fine for the speeding and court costs. Here a ticket for 10-15 mph over the speed limit will cost you about $150. The worst part is waiting for your name to be called it can take hours. Also, we have an option to sign up for driver's school. Then the only cost is the court cost and one night at the class. No points on the license.

I have never had to go to court for a speeding ticket and I have had plenty of them. I just always pay the fine before the court day. In most places you only go to court if you want to fight the ticket. The fines vary from place to place, and also depends on how fast you were going, where you were, and what the posted speed limit was.

You should be receiving something in the mail from the court. I know in California they give you the option of either paying the whole fee or going to traffic school.
The traffic school is more expensive but if you choose this route the ticket wont show on your driving record.

Are you a teenager? Some states have a policy that a teen can do community service or write an essay etc. in order to keep it off your driving record. You might inquire about that when you go to court.

Depends. I went to fight a ticket that clearly was not my fault (I wasn't even at the intersection that I supposedly ran a red light) and the judge was rude and arrogant but admitted that without the officer present, she could not verify his story and thus cleared the ticket.

My advise is to mail a check and get on w/your life. It is not worth the effort and the day off from work.

It all depends on the Judge. If he is in a good mood, he might dismiss it or send you trafffic school since your record is clean.
Good Luck!!
