I am not sure where you live but there are child care referral services available. Try calling a YMCA or YWCA. Do an internet search for a referral service in your area.
Otherwise, I used to babysit for a newborn when I was 12. I knew that my mother was right next door if I needed help, but I never had a problem. You may not have a choice.
If you know that you have a family member that can come and help out a certain week, ask your doctor about an induction during that time. That way there will be no guessing when labor will begin.
I wish you the best of luck!!

I would call around and ask the hospital. I know some hospitals do have babysitting areas. They can't make you stay home with your children if you go into labor. Isn't your 12 year old mature enough to watch the baby? I think I started babysitting when I was 11. Even if you bring them to the hospital, at least the 12 year old can keep an eye on the baby. If he/she isn't really motivated to chase after the baby, make something worth while if they do a good job. Treat them to a dinner with just mom or something they really enjoy. Good Luck!

you need to get into contact with your local church and tell them your situation so that your kids can begain to get used to the youth minister that will be taking care of them in the waiting room while your at the hospital. In case you are a bit sketchy and since you don't knew these people just make sure that they will agree to watch them where they can all be monitored. Blessings with your lil family.

The hospital would not be very accomodating with respect to your children during the labour, quite correctly, I might add, as you will be busy and need to give 100% attention to the task at hand.
I was lucky enough to have my neighbour help me out. As well, I was happy to return the favour when another neighbour asked me to watch her five year when she went to the hospital.
My mother lives in the US (I'm in Canada) and she was ultra generous in taking time off from work and spending a few weeks with me to help me out.
Just ask the people in your community, you'll be surprised how happy they will be to help!
Good luck.

is your 12 year old responsible? when i was 12 or 13 i would babysit my younger brother if my mom had to work extra hours at the office and stuff. i know its not the same as labour obviously, but he or she might be able to handle it until someone could make it to the house.
you could also just ask the hospital if its a possibility.

If worse comes to worse just take them with you, a hospital is not going to kick your children out onto the street

Haven't you discussed this with your doctor yet? Good heavens Mom, call your doctor and ask what the hospital policy is and then make proper arrangements for the care of your children.

ask one of your neighbors if they would watch your kids
when you go to the hospital to have the baby or ask a good friend that lives close to you.
