As a parent isint it our job to moniter what our children watch on television and moniter the music they listen to ecspecialy when they are young, I just had someone tell me Im a bad parent because I dont let my children listen to ying yang twins and stuff like that. WTF I love my kids and they will be exposed to enough things through out their lives why add to it by letting them listen to pornographic lyrics in songs or watching shows on television that are of sexual nature, Whats wrong with wanting kids that are going to be respectful good adults?

You aren't a bad parent in the least. This is a matter of morals, you are trying to limit what they listen to so that they don't get exposed; while the other parent is trying to expose her children to everything so that they learn tolerance. Both are different forms of good parenting, what is wrong is calling someone else a bad parent because they don't think exactly like you do, so I guess she is the one who needs to learn tolerance before teaching it to her children. But you did right by what you are doing, just remember that those who do allow their children to listen are not always doing wrong (not that you do but just a reminder not to do the same thing she did, a reminder we can all use sometimes).

There is not a darn thing with wanting all of that for your kids. My 2 daughters (ages 14 and 16) listen to all that rap crap and Eminem and 50 Cent, and it makes me want to throw up. I allow it, but only to a certain extent. If I don't like it, they don't listen to it. I swear I would be rich if I could stand in front of a mic and say a rhyme to the beat of a drum!!! Now my 14 year old has a facination for Pairs Hilton!! Talk about the worst roll model for girls these days!! Stick to your guns Mom!! Your on the right track with your kids! Keep up the good work!!

There is nothing wrong with your wanting to be a good parent. I commend you for minding what your kids are influenced by. There is so much filth out there and I often wonder if there were less parents like you wouldn't this be a nasty, nasty world? A bunch of 8 yr olds going around trying to act out things they've heard in the music they listen to. What a lousy place this would be. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!-- can I call you mom?

Some parents allow their children to be exposed to music and television shows that are of sexual nature, because one day they will HAVE to learn it anyway, and it's just part of life, however, violent television and music, I think, should be banned from childrens listening and viewing. There is nothing wrong with how you are raising your children, it's just that other people prefer another way.

I so agree with you where to people get off trying to tell you how to raise your kids?
The society today is F@@ked up and thinks well they we see it anyway, so what is the difference? Well in the wise words of my mom and dad: GARBAGE IN GARBAGE OUT!
Just because they will probably see and hear it anyway, does not mean that you have to condone it! You have to stand up for what you believe in and if you are teaching your kids the right way one day when they are confronted with the wrong thing they will make the right choose!
I think you are one hell of a MOTHER and that you should pat yourself on the back and tell yourself what a good job you are doing! Such a rare thing these days to have a mother as involved as you are and who cares enough about there kids to take a stand!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. The only thing is that if they want to listen to that so bad and you are not letting them, they are just gonna go and do it behind your back anyway! So maybe you could buy the edited versions of cds, or maybe use a parental lock on your tvs. but, no there is nothing wrong with wanting good kids.

When I was younger My Mom let me listen to slipknot,KoRn,Guns&roses,KiTTiE,and watch anything I wanted.I am very respectful.
Kids can still be respectful and listen to parental advisory lyrics and grow up tv shows,
I am so tired of people blaming music,video games,tv on all the problems in the world.maybe if people would respect one another we would't have so many problems
