you are not crazy, but there is no rush. you have been dating since you were how old?? holy crap. live together and relax. you dont need a piece of paper and an expensive wedding to prove your love.

Sweetheart, you ARE married--but not in the best way, you are married in what my friends and I call "the dirty marriage".

Being a married woman myself, I know how much personal investment goes into living with a person. You give him access to EVERYTHING: your finances, your family, your heart, your fears, your car, your sex, your laundry, your dreams, your lunch, your office, your purse, your credit, your refridgerator, your MIND.

Shocking to see it in writing, but everybody who has managed to get married (and then STAY married) knows that this is true. The merging of two into one. A husband should not CONTROL everything that is you, but he will freely dip his little finger into anything he wants--when he wants it.

Good gravy. How in the world can a woman emotionally and morally compromise herself to grant such extreme access to everything she is, and not even have a SOLID commitment?!

Words are just words. Men can SAY anything. They will sit at your table for as long as you let them eat the pie. But I've overheard LOTS of guys say, "I love her enough to LIVE with her, but not enough to marry her." Truth hurts like a B****. You better think about it girl.

If he loves you, and you love him (which I think is the case) make it real. Go on and get married. Once married, work it out, pray it out, fight it out--make it last. What do you have to lose, once married, that you wouldn't lose now, anyway?

signed,

Very happily married for 8 years to a man who waited FOUR years for marriage and sex.

Listen to your heart and do what you think is right. There is no magic age for getting married. Just be sure that you are happy with this person and want to marry them for the right reasons. Best wishes!
