I think certain aspects of any cultures humor is not readily understandable by those not in the culture but most people are at least bisexual so most of LGBT humor will cross boundaries.

I don't really see it. I think that when you take humor our of the box it's put in, whether gay or black or whatever, it's funny because it's relatable. So straights helped make "Will and Grace" a hit, and I laugh at Chris Rock even though I'm a white girl from the suburbs, and I've played the Blue Collar Comedy Tour CDs for black friends and heard them laugh. Also, as those of us who are LGBT integrate in society more, we probably won't have anything like a distinct style of humor, and that will be okay.

That said, not everything is going to translate, and that's okay, too. Every culture's going to have in-jokes, including these cultures. In my blog, I talked about going to the same gynecologist my wife does, and mentioned that "I like to begin a relationship with a new doctor by knowing that I have something in common with her." The straight readers didn't get it right away.

yes to all the above. Gay humor is no different than anyone else's humor, it often has more camp in it, and if often extremely truthful to the point of painfully funny.

I don't think there's really any difference in sense of humor between straight and gay people. it's all over the place like "straight" humor is. some of us may address gay issues more....

-poking fun at the gay culture (my friends and I HATE queens) and talking about how we hate gay people
- admiring glamorous, rich, snooty, bitchy women ( i have no clue why)
- being bitchy, pretentious, and cocky (doesnt sound funny, but you cant beat them, so join them)
- dirty sex jokes (being around gay people is the only time its acceptable)
- anything referring to gay culture (celebrities, movies, music...etc)
