Babies will instinctively hold their breath if you blow in their face just before submerging them. We had to do this in baby swimming lessons. They don't do it on their own until after doing the blowing technique a few times so that they learn to hold their breath in water.

They don't really instinctively dog paddle. They will move their arms and legs the same way that they do when you put them down under an activity gym.

Yes its true that they instinctively hold their breath afterall they've been doing it in the womb for 9 months. They also instinctivly go into a star shape if you drop them to protect themselfs. They loose the abilities after about 3 months however as they dont need it anymore :)

Yes but not sure about the dog paddle. It's a good idea to give your little one infant swimming lessons, tho.

Yes it is.

Its quite adorable when they do it. But it can be very dangerous because the baby cant hold its breathe for a super long time.

So, just be careful not to drown your baby.

I dunno bout dog paddling, But they do instinctively hold their breath when immersed in water, because they have been used to living inside the womb.

Yes they can. It is their natural instinct at that age.
