Hard to explain.

My brother Phil used to be a Jason Vorhees fanatic bup to about part 6 or so... I mean when Jason started to go to Manhattan and stuff like that, it just got completelly ridiculous!

Jason isn't a zombie in any sense of that term. Zombie comes from the black magic voodoo which turned regular folk into semi-brain dead pawns open to the spell-caster's suggestions.

Then there's the living dead such as from the George A. Romero flicks, commonly known as zombies, although they are dead corpses reanimated to something which resembles being alive.

So where does Jason fit in? Hard to say. If he is but an evil spirit, how can he affect living matter around him? And how could living corporeal people be able to do physical damage to him?

Don't forget that in those Friday The 13th movies, Jason wasn't the protagonist in parts 1 and 5. I think the film makers wanted to do sequels after the first one, and decided to resurect the character of this drowned boy from the first one, without a proper explanation.

My brother did read a book about this decades ago where it was hinted that possibly Jason was "cursed" during his living, to return from the dead to exact his revenge. ut it's been so long ago I can't recall for certain.

In any case, those are my thoughts!

What Is Jason Voorhees

I think "unkillable evil guy" is a good description. Although he's more than that. I would almost say he's comparable with when Freddy Krueger died that night in the boiler room and was revived (through a pact with an evil demon) by a bunch of evil spirits entering his body... or at least that's what it looked like. Jason V. started as just a boy who needed special care and as a result of his not getting it he drowned. He didn't show up until after his mother tried to get revenge on the camp counsellors who she believed killed her son (or at least counsellors at the same camp). I think Jason's showing up had something to do with his mother's death. I would almost consider that she was a witch or that her hate (like in the movie Ju-on) was strong enough to resurrect her dead son to continue her work. So in answer, is Jason V a zombie. No. :D

1. No. He is the encarnation of his tortured soul seeking revenge on all teenagers who dare to have casual sex when they should be minding others. Zombies are cursed beings brought back to life in some sort of ritualist manner. The term Zombie is often misused to include laboratory experiments. Jason was never truly dead, nor was he brought back to life.

2. His body was lost in the Lake and as such it is filled with
rotting lake water. Take off the make and he is hideously
deformed and nobody wants to see that.

and 3. His body continues to age because his heart never died. If you watched the shows you show know that his evil heart hold his tormented soul and that the only way to stop him is to stop his heart from beating. They have tried but they never seem to destroy the heart. It keeps on beating and it is huge as hearts go.

Jason is a evil spirit of vengeance; my theory is that he is getting older because Hollywood is about to discard this horror icon of the 80's and if you can show him getting older, you can revitalize the franchise with a successor to Jason's legacy--I think they tried this a couple of times already but the formula didn't really click with the audiences at the time--it's all about timing...

Jason is a vengeful Forest Elemental. Most of the time a Morals killer. Basically, you mess around in the woods... Goodbye.
