I know I am a little early but I need to come up with a Biblical costume for halloween party at Church. One year my daughter dresses up cutsie then the next year she has to be something from the Bible. This year it is time for the Bible costume. Does anyone out there have any ideas??? I appreciate all of your help. She is 7 years old by the way.

We don't "celebrate" like everyone else does. We do a safe alternate to trick or treating. We line our cars up in the parking lot and pass out candy we know is safe for the children.

Lot's wife. You can dress her up as a salt shaker. It'll be cute, fun creative, yet from the Bible.

btw, I like the lining up the car idea.

since when was halloween okayed by the church?
what a load of bull

the pagan Celts celebrated the Day of the Dead on All Hallows Day (1st November). The spirits supposedly rose from the dead and, in order to attract them, food was left on the doors. To scare off the evil spirits, the Celts wore masks. When the Romans invaded Great Britain, they embellished the tradition with their own, which is both a celebration of the harvest and of honoring the dead. Very much later, these traditions were transported to the United States, Canada and Australia. In Australia it is sometimes referred to as "mischief night", by locals.

Halloween is sometimes associated with the occult. Many European cultural traditions hold that Halloween is one of the liminal times of the year when the spiritual world can make contact with the physical world and when magic is most potent (e.g. Catalan mythology about witches

Well, when I went to halloween parties at church, we all went as oompah loompahs and rockstars, but If you want her to be holey, fine by me. Why not let her help pick out her own costume with your guidence? She is at an age where she might like to feel a little more independant. Maybe she could be a cute girl version of david. She can have a sling and rocks with a toga robe thingy made of leather or silk. Angels are also cute. With a hanger with stars on it and a silken white robe she would be cute little girl and yet awesome!! Oh! Oh! I have an idea, why don't you take her trick or treating. I am going to be little dead riding hood! >;-D Bwahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please don't make her be Mary, that's stupid. :-P

I think an angel. There is something so sweet about a ittle girl dressed as one at Christmas so why wouldn't it work at Halloween.

Why not dress her like Christ? You could use red make-up to mark her palms and side. She could wear a loin-clothe and beard and crown of thorns and drag a cross around and say 'forgive them, Father, they know not what they do'.
