Semi close. With out traffic it is about a half hours drive ... 15 with the way I drive. I work in O.C. and I bar hop & club in hollywood .... with traffic ... and L.A.'s traffic is always HORRIBLE .. it takes about an hour and a half... on weekends, it takes me almost two hours to get to the strip ... anywhere between 10pm- 12. If you go sometime between 1 am to 4 am ... takes about 3 hours cause the clubs get out!!!! Traffic sucks.

Hollywood is in Los Angeles County. Orange County is south of that. From the center of Hollywood to the Orange County line (going straight south / southeast) is about 25 miles or so.

no, it's not that far but because of traffic, could take an hour or more to drive from the closest parts of Orange County to Hollywood.

From the northermost cities in OC -- Seal Beach or Huntington Beach on the coast and Fullerton or Anaheim inland -- it is ~35 miles to get to Hollywood and Highland (dead center Hollywood). From OC's southern tip -- San Clemente or San Juan Capistrano -- it is ~70 miles. From Newport Beach, Irvine or Tustin, it is 50 miles. (You can, of course, Mapquest rough directions and distances between any two cities.)
I was born and raised in Hollywood and now live in Irvine (what I like to call "south-central OC"), and drive to Hollywood 2-3 times a month to see friends and family. Hollywood and nearby Koreatown are definitely ground zero for clubbing and late-night eating. It isn't too bad a drive 9:30 am-3 pm, or after 7 pm. During those times, it usually takes me 50-60 min. During rush hour, it can take twice as long.

by way of west coast highway do you propose the pacific coast highway? there is an orange county no. a million bus that travels PCH to form Island. From there you may take a no. seventy 5 bus to the Tustin Metrolink station to Union Station, and then the redline subway to hollywood.

I'm assuming you mean California.
Kinda sorta, but not really close. It's about 35 miles away, but in LA traffic, drive time could be an hour or more.
