Inside Joke

Jason Alexander actually played Biff Lowman in "Death of a Sales Man" though he had to wear a toupee. Of course you notice that George is going balder as the series progress. i think those are episodes where george's appearance is part of the story.

I think it's because at the time George was acting like he was something he's not. Like a smart educated guy that may be called " Biff " I think he may have called him this also when he wears his preppy sweaters. Hope this helped. Gotta love Seinfeld. They should come out with the Movie. Although I think the first girl that answered might have the right answer.

In reference to Biff Lowman (sp?) from Death of a Salesman--it's when George is unemployed

Excellent answer.

To elaborate: In the play it takes until the end to find out that Biff is without a job but keeps pretending everything is fine. (Then he goes out and kills himself. Pretty grim.)
