If world peace were to truly exist - then there would be no need for National borders, each country would no longer require an individual army, or separate identity, and resultingly - no need for a sovereign government (A world government would work).

Since the cold war was the last 'real' threat to world peace - are our governments now trying to encourage new threats to keep themselves in power?

Apologies Walter for not being clear - I am suggesting that the cold war was infact the last real war, and that the current wars in the middle east are manufactured.

I think the current administration is bending over backwards to avoid peace. The Bush bunch believe being tough, as they call it, is the appropriate manner in which to approach and work with other countries, particularly countries they consider as bad guys on the world stage, but face it, they are not very friendly to anyone except Israel and England, sorry to say.
This manner in which they operate comes from the basic organizing principle of the Republican parties various right wing advocates. The basic idea is that they hold themselves up as examples to the Knights in shinning Armour who are out to kill the dragons of evilness who are threatening the world order according to GWB, C-honey, Rummy, Condi and Gonzo.
The principle is the Harsh Father model they believe family life is based on. They just take that model and apple it the world.
This harsh father model is the father-of-all-solutions which is a outline of the many discussions by powerful, supposedly, self-made men so good at what they do that the dollars are hanging out of their pockets at these supposedly relaxed discussions.
The fact is that they are a bunch of loonies who have somehow fooled enough people in America to actually be allowed to run the Executive Branch of the Government of the United States.
Yes, if you are working toward Peace, you have to use peaceful methods or what you create is not Peace. For example, Manifest Destiny did not create peace, it created ownership.

No I dont think so - i think that not acting is far more dangerous. Great Britain and the USA have been the world's policemen for over 200 years. Do you think that Napoleon, Hitler or Stalin should not have been stopped? Fact is you are safe because of the resolve of sucessive British and American administrations in the face of criticism. Dont forget people wanted to make peace with Napoleon and many thought WW2 was not our business and we should have left Hitler to it. Hindsight, it would appear, is a wonderful thing - but dont doubt the threat posed by islamic extremists - they would like us all to die and believe that they are acting on Allah's behalf when they murder us - and this comes down to their interpretation of the Koran. Dont doubt for a minute that this is about our very survival or do you think we should wait for it to go nuclear and then (in case of UK) use those nuclear attack subs constantly moving around the worlds oceans to get revenge after our country has been reduced to a smoking wasteland - by firing British nukes in retalliation?

I don't believe that the US and UK are trying to avoid peace. They want their country safe the UK . Do you feel they should lie down when persons are coming into their country and scaring them so bad that when they go to work on the subway the wonder if they will die. Should that not be addressed? Should the world kiss the Islamics pschotics butts. This society has merged into England and alot of Brits are living in Florida now because they say their country is very difficult to live in. Should we just give England to Islamics because they feel they should have it. What about the persons who worked for the last thirty years building that intrastructure should they not reap what they sow. Persons need to start feeling what is happening in the world. Islamic persons do not wish to live in a dessert so they are attempting to take others land and in mass populations others countries, thru fear tactics. So what do you do? Do you just say no you can't have my house, my country, my job.my life. Wake up World this is what it is about.

A single world government is what these TYRANNY governments want and we cannot allow then to get that. If our enemy were "Islam extremist" these guys existed before Hitler and Staling. Why weren't they killing people then? But then it Hitler and Staling. But if you are keen, you will see who terrorist are! Check on reports about 911, "Operation Iraqi freedom" war and find out who true terrorist are! A simple search for on google for videos done by Alex Jones should help you understand why these guys are going. "Police State". You see them generating movies in Hollywood about them, these guys are real serious. They are ready to kill you in order to enhance their greed!
So the answer is YES, they create instability in order to be seen to be doing something so that they can achieve a single world government that is under the martial laws.

Let's see - if you can't admit that the Cold War was a "threat to peace" (wars aren't "threats to peace", you idiot, they represent a lack of peace - and the Cold War certainly was a time with a lack of peace) then you're not really asking a "question", are you?

No I don't think they are trying to avoid peace, we don't no things that are going on behind the scenes. But we will have a one world government, and the Anti-Christ will be the leader he will bring peace for 3 1/2 years then he will reveal himself, and go against Israel and if you don't bow down to him you are dead.

I think so... I believe Blair and Bush have their own agenda for retaining power... and in a variety of issues... in keeping trouble brewing between nations!

Mostly because they're zealots... and want to bring the end nearer for us all!

And I don't find this easy to say as a Christian!

I don't think that Bush and Blair are the smartest leaders that we have ever had,but I think that they are a better alternative to what you are suggesting.
