Do I.T. or accountancy or something, psychology is a waste of time as are many subjects that don't lead to jobs

If you study with the Open, as I am, then do somthing you actually enjoy doing. It makes it far easier to apply yourself to the study.
Have a good look at thier prospectus or website, as some of thier degrees oe diplomas have specific paths.

The important thing is to have the degree. It shows an employer that you can concentrate and apply yourself at a given level.

I once knew a submarine captain whos degree was in zoology
Good luck

If you want to do psychology, you have to be good at listening and understanding. There is also a certain science involved. You'd have to look at jobs such as being a councillor etc.

Accountancy- do you want your own business? Many companies pay you to train and get an apprenticeship to work for them.

Be careful though with open university. Yes it gives you the flexibility, but you've got to be really self-disciplined.

Do something you are going to enjoy, there is no point being stuck in a job you dont enjoy...why not do an open uni course in psychology (get a prospectus - they give you job possibilities with each course) follow your heart now then if it doesnt work out, do another course...life is too short to get stuck in a job you dont really want to be in just because its more 'real'. Psychology is good for all sorts, youth work, social work, childrens work, psychology research and study...the list is endless...

A trade is more likely to give you a steady income. Plumbing, bricklaying and carpentry are excellent. The new laws governing DIY mean more work for electricians. Get yourself an NVQ2. You may be able to get a company to take you on as an apprentice, then the Government will pay for the whole thing.

It's very difficult to get a job with a psychology degree. Try studying something else like maths, science or English as a degree in one of those gives you greater work options when you have completed your degree.
