The mistake that Clinton made was thinking that it DID matter, so he lied. If he hadn't had that lapse in judgment, the repubs wouldn't have been able to gain leverage. Funny how he gets one mistake before impeachment, and Bush will get how many before he is impeached? I wonder how different the landscape would look if he had told the truth, told repubs it was none of their business, and let the american people make up their minds about how out of touch the repubs are. Just goes to show you how powerful Clinton was, and how much we long for the days when the biggest controversy surrounding the president was a stain on a dress...

they're nevertheless indignant that Clinton, even with being impeached, walked away gracefully and with more desirable approval rankings than Dubya is having in the present day. do not enable the neo-cons attempt to spin this to assert, "it really is about his mendacity lower than oath". remember that Ken Starr's rampant attack on Clinton became a inaccurate -- yet taxpayer funded -- witch hunt that had GOPsters drooling for revenge. They hated Clinton for prevailing re-election, and hopped in this Lewinsky affair like flies on a canines-turd. fairly, Clinton did no longer should be sworn lower than oath were it no longer for the vitriolic hate that Republicans had for the savvy and charismatic Clinton. little or no were given carried out through this Congress (nor the most cutting-edge one, the 109th), and the comprehensive affair became right into a media circus that allowed the GOP to percentage pornography with the yank human beings. the universal public did not chew, and GOPsters were fuming mad ever because that. If Giuliani is sworn lower than oath, or ANY Republican stuck at the same time with his pants down (and there are a range of) I assure they could be perjured besides.

If you weren't so pretty, I would accuse you of being the product of an experiment.
The public has a right to know about adulterous affairs and any other misconduct by an official, whether or not partisan, when such misconduct:
1. Is paid for by the taxpayer
2. Is illegal
3. Takes place on public property
4. Uses public property

I've never heard of a Republican's adulterous affair being described as a private matter. I'm not sure of any politicians to whom you refer, but I'd say that one big time church guy who was raked over the coals for a few years was most likely a Republican. His adulterous affair was as widely covered as any Democrat's has been.

Well, politicians put themselves out in front of the eyes of the public...If they don't want to be scrutinized, then they're in the wrong line of work...Rush...is an ordinary citizen, not a politician. The Viagra was not stolen. It was prescribed in his dr.'s name for privacy, because he is a public figure, although being a private citizen. Do you have a problem with men taking Viagra if they want to? I don't.

What republicans have had affairs but have commented on it as a "private matter?" I do not know of any.

In my opinion, what people do behind closed doors in the sexual department is their business, regardless of who they are. But it is when you bring that kind of thing into the public, or the white house, etc., it becomes a matter of public policy.

We all got here as a result of a few million years of people having sex.
Get used to it. Sex is here to stay.
