That is not true at all.. There are all kinds of tall tales about how to tell the sex of the baby... none of which are true.

Only an ultrasound is the way to tell the sex of your unborn baby and I have seen mistakes made with that too. One lady having her baby was told the baby was a girl and they were happy since all the other grandchildren had been boys. Well when it was born and we told her she had a boy she just could not grasp the statement. Dr had to show her the baby's plumbing. It still took her a minute or two for it to sink in. But ultrasound is fairly accurate.

It mainly depends on the woman and her body and how her body reacts to pregnancy.

for example:
a first time mom may start to show later than a mom who's been there before, especially if your second pregnancy is close to your first.

now, i do think there is some validity to the idea that you carry girls and boys differently.
i am all out front and i have gained about 20-25 pounds. i have 3 wks to go and i look like i just swallowed a beach ball. from behind you can't tell i'm pregnant at all though....

so, i don't think the idea about how soon you show is worth paying attention to, but i definitely think the idea of how you carry the baby is accurate...sometimes:)

cheers!

There's no way to tell without an ultrasound or amnio. Everyone told me I was a having a girl with my first pregnancy because of the way I carried the baby (like a basketball under my shirt), but we had a boy. It's fine to try to guess, but the only sure way to know is science. Congratulations!

its all myths. i was huge with my baby and he was a boy. some people say that u can tell by cravings what sex u are having - eg if u prefer savory or sweet. also ive heard if the baby lies low its a boy and higher are girls. but also - not true - my friends baby was low lying and she had a little girl lol
i think the only semi reliable way to tell is at a scan - but even then they cant be 100% sure. sometimes they cant tell atall if baby is lying the wrong way but lucky my little man had it all on display at my scan so we knew he was a boy lol

no that's not true for the ppl i no they both r goin 2 have boys n they found out at 3-5 months. it depends on how the baby is facing or if they r covering that area to tell.

That's just a old wives tale......sorry.....But there has been some research showing that the sex of the baby might be determined by which parent is less stressed........It starts in the genes, They are still doing a study on this but it has shown to be accurate so far.....Anyways, Congrats on baby....!!!!!!!

The one I'm familiar with is if you are carrying more "forward" (So from the back you look nearly the same as you did before you got pregnant) you are supposed to be carrying a boy. More to the sides/spread out is supposed to be a girl.

Does it work? I don't know ...

not true. My mother didn't start showing (still wore size 3 pants) up to six months with me. No one believed she was pregnant. At 7 months, she started to show. I am as girl as it gets.

I don't think that is true for everyone. I am having a boy though, and it took me till about 3 weeks ago for anyone to really tell I am pregnant.

i think it is different with everyperson. Those to me are all just myths. My sister- inlaw is pregnant she has 4 months left and she just started showing. I think it all depends on the baby too how much you eat and how fast they grow some grow faster then the others
