a desktop and laptop r 2 different things altogether
sure laptops r getting cheaper, but i still wont suggest it if u don't need a portable
think u need 2 get a few facts sorted out
a home pc is the best u can get (gaming excluded)
an office pc should be pretty much cheaper .. no multimedia, no entertainment ...
the home pc could be a desktop as well as a laptop !
a celeron's not good enuf 4 home use ,,, tho good enuf 4 office
was just checking dell site, cause they offer a good menu 4 selection of components / systems

It will not be better than a home PC of same cost.
This laptop will be the least powerful. It will come with Celeron M processor. If you intend to use it only for browsing, chatting, email, you can get it. If you wanna run softwares like Photoshop, Matlab or games that are graphics intensive.

well man for sure the lap top at this price will not be better thn ur PC but if ur job is goin out and meeting ppl or working at their place then i strongly recomend you to go in for 1....i recently got one for 39k and to tel u its really useful and its changin my lifestye....... moreover for this price u only get a cerlon 1.4 GHZ but i recomend you to go in atleast 1.6GHZ and 60 GB .... with 915 chipset with pentium M procesor ... its not worth investing in non 915 chipset and 1.4GHZ cerlon models now....... jus try HP v2623 or HCL (Doctors lap top) these two moels are really outstanding in this range of 35 to 37k ........ enquire atleast with 2 to 3 dealers for the price and remember to bargain for priceif not atleast geta pen drive and mouse(usb) they should give it....... else its not worth investing .... and by the by Phtoshop and oracle and other softwares are working perfectly in my lap top so jus dont worry abt teh performance it will be deleverd ...with jus a fraction of a seccond delay trust me ul not know the difference!!!!!
