My husband has me and our daughter on his insurance, but it does not go into effect until Sept.1 and we think I am already pregnant. We were not being irresponsible...I have been on the pill and not missed one since our daughter was born almost 7 years ago!I just want to know if anyone knows if they will still cover the pregnancy or not.

I have BCBS. No, pregnancy is not a pre-existing condition you are covered the first day on your insurance!

Good Luck!

First, since you are not sure if you are pregnant, take a pregnacy test. If it comes out postive, then you have to start going to the doc.If that is the case, pay out your pocket until the insurance takes effect. Get a receipt for every out of pocket expense paid to the doctors office. There is only like 3 weeks left until sep. When you file your taxes next year, claim the expensive as medical reimbursement. Keep all the receipts that way, if by chance you get audited, there won't be a problem.

our company had switched to BCBS when i was 6months along w/ my 2ND son - i did ask the rep if ti was considered a pre-existing condition. and they assured me that i would be fully covered regardless of how far along i was - pregnancy is NOT considered pre-existing.

BTW - Congrats !!

I think you still are but I'd call them to make sure. I've had three, including them in the last five years, and they are by far the best and most helpful.

Call them and ask if they cover "pre-existing conditions" such as pregnancy.
most employee based plans will ,but make sure.
