To be completely honest.
I dont think we should do a damn thing.
Af far as I'm concerned New Orleans should be razed and the entire population moved.
While I do feel bad for the people who had their homes and lives destroyed, I am completely sick and tired of this concept that we can live ANYWHERE we want and if something happens, the governemnt will bail us out.
New Orleans is below sea level for gods sake!!!!It is destroyed every 50 years by a hurricane!!!!
When are we going to learn that just because you WANT to live someplace, doesnt mean that you can or should.
Yes, we can rebuild the city, but we all know its going to happen again, so why should we. Arent't there better ways of spending our tax dollars than building the same homes over and over and over again?
This is an issue that is faced in my region on a yearly basis when rivers flood. The Government has recently started purchasing the flooded land from the flood victems and turning it into parks.
The idea that it is acceptable to rebuild and repair someones home every year due to flooding is rediculous. And yes, New Orleans does flood every year.

I think Mexican workers are helping clean it up.
Money sure did not help with what a couple billion dollars of taxpayers gave to people;;;;
One billion dollars of fraud.
New Orleans is a money pit; even though the mayor called it chocolate city? Is that racist or what?

While what happened was a sorry mess, I for one am not delving into the Katrina problems; hence, I'm not thinking about the victims or of ways to get them home.
I've got my own problems.

I think we should all just forget New Orleans. Lots of things have happened since but you don't see people all over the news mooching of the government because of their problems.

Well its time for the people to start helping themselves, because you can't rely on the government, whether local, state, or federal. I feel sorry for these flood victims, but they have to move on, and start helping themselves.
