Ok Ok - there are some hot head fundamentalists who shoot back REAL HARD- but keep in mind- when in another man's land, could you blame them? What else have they got to do?
I mean really?

Just walk out and get shot by a strange soldier who is yelling something at you in a language you don't understand?

It always seemed to me that America was honest, and a "stand-up" kind of country,

I would do the same HERE on MY American soil- wouldn't you?
If we got attacked by a force ROVEing through the streets of the USA in tanks and Humvees- blowing up things everywhere- I guess I would then become an " American insurgent" -

What would YOU do?
I would defend my country to the death- wouldn't you?

your gonna say Cheney's line- (low matter of fact voice) "...so we don't have to fight them over here..."

You mean they don't know how to find America if they wish to?
- I don't buy it -

I think you are making unfactual generalizations about the insurgents. Most of the did not lose their families or homes or jobs. Well, maybe their jobs, because without Saddam, there is no need for executioners, torturers or murderers on the government payroll.

But these people are not just getting randomly shot by soldiers. That's just not true. And such blatantly false statements undermine any point you may be trying to make.

Your example on American soil. Well, if we had a government run by a brutal dictator, that murdered 10's of 1,000's of citizens every year, that had rape rooms, that tortured and executed people, that used chemical weapons against citizens, etc. then I would WELCOME liberation by people who would give me freedom, economic liberty and a constitutional democracy. Unless, of course, I was one of the people who raped and murdered and got rich under the dictatorship.

So, again, your analogy doesn't quite fit with the facts. And most Iraqis, even now, are glad we toppled Saddam. I suspect a lot of Iraqis, possibly the majority, are still glad we are there.

Another reason your position falters is because it is not the US forces that are the primary target of the insurgents, it is the Shiite majority and the democratic government. That is why they are blowing up mosques and markets and schools, trying to incite a civil war.

Great avatar.

I see where you are trying to go with this. Yes, of course there would be a massive backlash in the states.

The insurgents are not targeting the US troops exclusively however. They are also targeting Iraqis that are trying to gain control of their own country. They are trying to destabilize any attempts at an organized government. You are over-simplifying the situation.

Quit trying to blow us up for one thing. If they hadn't attacked us on 9/11 none of this would have happened. Fine, they started it, we'll finish it.
And no, don't care to see any links 'proving' the Martians, CIA, Eskimos, Aliens, Australian Bushmen, etc, did it.
