I am asking because I worked for an agency for 6 weeks and they let me go, because of a false allegation and I don't want that to be part of the interview for a job that I have an interview for next week. What should I do? Do I tell the future employer about the past or will they find out through the SS#

they can check through the SSN, but generally they won't. .

the exception is if it's a sensitive job and you need some kind of security clearance or of there's a significant background check . . (like if you're applying to be a law officer). .

the other possibility is that they have a contract with one of these investigative firms that can find everything out about you in a matter of minutes. . (this isn't likely, but some employers do use these services). .

Most people would say "don't tell the employer and don't put it on your resume". . (I wouldn't put it on my resume, myself, but on a job application I would).

usu they interview you before they have you fill out an application. .

Your SS info is confidential. I'd let it ride for now about telling all in an interview. You may not be offered the job if you bring up the allegation.

There are enough data brokers out there such that an employer can put your whole life history together. You have to give consent to run these checks - no consent, no more interview.

They can find out by checking your SS # and seeing what tax returns you filed with the government. Can't get around that.

I think that they can, but just don't feel it necessary.
but it also might depend on the type of job. I know that getting a simple grocery store job it is easy to "forget" to put down a job that you definitely don't want referencing from, like a few of my friends did.

They CAN find out that info if the wish. I'd be honest and put down all previous jobs on my resume.
